You, Me, Electricity

Do you ever stop and wonder how your emails and text messages reach the other side of the world? How the internet and television work? In other words, how you can communicate over large distances? Elektra, the largest humanoid robot in Europe, invites you to visit You, Me, Electricity.

In the past, we used smoke and light signals to communicate with each other over large distances. When the connection between electricity and magnetism was discovered, the way in which we communicate developed rapidly. This discovery resulted in inventions such as the telephone, telegraph, radio, television and computer. And who knows what still has to be discovered? Come and find out at You, Me, Electricity.

How do you write your name in ones and zeros, so that a computer can recognise it, save it and send it? How do your words travel round the world when you use your mobile phone?

You, Me, Electricity is made possible with the cooperation of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, the University of Amsterdam and Energetica, the museum for energy technology in Amsterdam.
