Bits & Co

Do you communicate in ones and zeros? Computers and mobiles do. Bits & Co is NEMO’s IT exhibition where you will be introduced to digital media, ones and zeros.

Go back in time at Bits & Co. This is where you’ll find computers that will leave you dumbfounded. Did they really used to be so big and bulky? Admire the large IBM computer from 1948. At the time, this was an extraordinary machine. But it couldn’t do much more than extract the square root of a number. These days, a basic calculator is a million times faster than this computer.

Computer graphics
Using the theme of computer graphics, Bits & Co will show you how computers have developed over the years. Computer graphics are images made with computers, for example for logos, characters in video games or drawings for the design of a car. Discover the basics of computer graphics on four old computers. Draw your own designs and see the world in perspective!

Bits & Co doesn’t only take you through the history of the computer; you will also be introduced to different (creative) applications of digital media. Make your own NEMO clip, create a three-dimensional alter ego or add sound effects to a film.

In Dancing Bits see yourself break dancing on the big screen.
